Dateline Wednesday!
Ok, this is going to be my first attempt at a semi-consistent blog posting.
Guess what I saw on Dateline today. You guessed it, another one of their signature “news stories” about child predator sting operations. I am just annoyed to hell that they keep doing these shows. They don’t talk about real news, instead they just milk the ratings cow. By showing us the dark side human nature constantly like that, they are getting the ratings they want. Apparently, the Presidential Race isn’t important enough, the war in Iraq isn’t important, or even the genocide in Sudan isn’t important enough to make this week’s Dateline. It had to be about “the dangers of the internet.”
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not supporting or defending child molesters here, but I’m simply commenting on one “news program” exploit of the American TV viewer.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that probably most of those people that are caught by the sting operation wouldn’t have harmed their “potential friend.” These are people. in my opinion, who aren’t the child molesters or the abusers, but just people who have a wacked sense of friendship. I say MOST though. I know that some of those stings do find the real dangers of society, but it still doesn’t need to be televised on a monthly basis!
In conclusion, Dateline please let leave these sting operations to the local news and concentrate on more national news. You don’t need to keep reminding us that the Internet is bad. I’m just sick and tired of the Dateline name being demoted to such a low level ratings booster.

Semi-consistent? How much is that?
